Enviroscan performs hydrographic surveys to document a variety of physical features (water depth, bottom type, location of obstructions, etc.) in all types of water (oceans, rivers , lakes, impoundments, etc.) in support of many activities (navigational charting, channel and berth maintenance, coastal engineering and management, marine construction, fisheries management, pipeline routing and maintenance, archaeology, etc.).
The common feature of all Enviroscan hydrographic surveys is precise measurement of water depth using survey-grade single-beam or Multibeam echo sounding systems with integrated real-time, high-accuracy global positioning system (GPS) positioning, and (where necessary) heave, pitch, and roll compensation. These surveys are fully digital and follow the standards described in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hydrographic surveying manual (e.g. inclusion of water level or tidal measurements relative to established benchmarks to ensure proper referencing to Mean Lower Low Water).
Some hydrographic surveys also address the nature of the bottom through delineation of bottom types (i.e. sand, rock, mud, or vegetation) or detection and mapping of obstructions such as wrecks, pipelines, logs, debris, etc. using RoxAnn Sonar or Side Scan Sonar.
Our hydrographic charts are generated electronically in any coordinate system, format, and color scheme requested by the client for easy overlay on any base map. The data can be presented numerically or as color contours, or rendered as 3-D perspective views.
Charts can be transmitted as high-quality hard copy, on diskette or CD, or by email. If desired, Enviroscan can also perform volume calculations for (e.g.) lake storage capacities, sedimentation rate studies, and dredge planning and evaluation.
