B.Sc., Geology 2004, University of Pittsburgh
EXPERIENCE
January 2008 - Present: Project Geophysicist, Enviroscan, Inc., Lancaster, PA
Assist in all phases of geophysical surveys including participation in field crews, data input and processing, and preparation of deliverables (charts, graphs, maps, cross-sections, etc.).
August 2007 - January 2008: Geoenvironmental Specialist, Spotts, Stevens, and McCoy, Reading PA
Assisted in all phases of hydrogeological investigations. Included risk assessment, water sample collection, data processing, data interpretation, and the generation of boring logs for numerous remediation projects. This information was used to monitor the fate and transport of contamination. Also assisted in site characterization for storm-water best management practices. This included geologic mapping, soil mapping, and infiltration rate determinations using double-ring infiltrometers.
July 2006 - August 2007: Geoscientist/ Geophysicist, URS Corporation, Gaithersburg, MD
Assisted in all phases of geophysical surveys including participation in field crews, data input and processing, and preparation of deliverables (charts, graphs, maps, cross-sections, etc.). Also assisted in geological investigations. This included: geologically logging rock and soil in borings and trenches and presenting the data in log form, geologically field mapping areas of engineering interest, and serving as the site geologist for a dam rehabilitation where a double grout curtain was installed beneath the dam. The responsibilities included logging rock, supervising the drilling teams, and monitoring the grouting.
August 2004 - August 2006: Graduate Research Assistant, Wright State University, Dayton, OH
Duties included conducting quarterly groundwater sampling and monthly water level monitoring, sample processing using an IC, GC, and titrations in the laboratory. This information was reported in an annual groundwater report that was submitted to the client annually.
January 2004 - June 2004 Graduate Assistant, Wright State University, Dayton, OH
Assisted professors and graduate research assistants in a support role. Responsibilities included: setting up laboratories, grade papers, act as a driver for field trips, make photocopies, type exams, and any other assigned tasks
May 2001 - August 2003 (seasonal): Scientific Intern, DCNR-Pa State Geologic and Topographic Survey, Middletown, PA
Assisted in fieldwork related to the generation of surface and subsurface glacial geology maps near New Castle, PA. Responsible for locating domestic water wells, identifying glacial outcrops of interest and assisting in their description. Assisted in fieldwork related to geologic mapping near St. Marys, Pennsylvania. Also, assisted in other support activities in the office that included data entry, database management, and the generation of logs from field activities and other sources.
