Our Organization/Mission

Enviroscan, Inc. specializes exclusively in non-destructive, non-intrusive, land-, marine-, borehole-, and airborne-geophysical investigations.  Geophysics is the science of detecting and mapping underground, underwater, or otherwise subsurface (i.e. hidden) objects or features.  Geophysics is essentially the earth science equivalent of medical radiology in that just as radiologists use non-invasive techniques to diagnose hidden problems and minimize (and make safer) invasive surgery, geophysicists can detect and delineate subsurface targets to minimize (and make safer) intrusive digging or drilling.

Formed in February 1992, Enviroscan is a Pennsylvania Corporation with offices at 1051 Columbia Avenue in Lancaster Township, Pennsylvania.  In the year 2001, Enviroscan merged with Marine Search and Survey, a marine geophysics company with whom Enviroscan had collaborated since its inception.  Enviroscan is officially classified as a women business enterprise (WBE) and a socially or economically restricted business (SERB) with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (#078E), the Pennsylvania Department of General Services (certification number 990135ENVIR0SC), and the Maryland Department of Transportation.  The principals and corporate officers are:

Felicia Kegel Bechtel, M.Sc., P.G., President
Timothy D. Bechtel, Ph.D., P.G., Vice President - Technical Operations
Geoffrey T. Stankiewicz, C.P.A., Vice President --Finance

Enviroscan carries general liability, business property, owned/hired vehicle, workers compensation, inland marine, commercial umbrella, and professional liability insurance policies. Insurance certificates are available upon request.

Enviroscan's technical staff has over 100 combined years of experience in engineering, environmental, and exploration geophysics.  All of our project managers have advanced degrees and regularly attend continuing education courses.  In addition, Enviroscan's principal geophysicists responsible for final approval of all work are registered Professional Geologists (P.G.'s).  With our experience, education, and a knack for creative problem solving, Enviroscan has developed a reputation for successfully completing particularly difficult or unusual subsurface detection and mapping projects.
